Meig (Upper & Lower)

Ok, well today I went for a wee paddle up Strathconon with Kenny.

A nice potter down the Upper Meig on medium levels…no problems, no swims, no rolls and a nice blast through the bottom stopper to finish…

On the way home, I thought I’d take a wee nosey at the gorge section and spotted a couple of kayakers making their way down through the rocks and slides.

Managed to grab a few wee pics, but the light wasn’t very good and I was trying to keep the camera still while hanging off trees above the gorge!

Anyhow, I’ll defo make sure I get a run of this river before the close of the year; looked fantastic!

Slovenia Countdown…

Only 44 days until I head off with a few other paddlers from Inverness Canoe Club to tackle the Soča river in Slovenia – can’t wait!

Currently dusting-down my summer paddling gear and ordering a few new goodies for the trip…

Paddling on the Soča

River Gruinard

Well, unfortunately I didn’t get to paddle the Gruinard today. Two reasons:

  1. I didn’t have my boat with me; and
  2. Even if I did, the club outing took a detour to the Balgie en route , then seeing there was no water, returned east to the Black Water!

However, never one to let a chance to scout some rapids pass me by, I went for a wee wander down the bank of the river; camera in hand!

The Gruinard looked medium-ish flow to me, with a couple of tricker sections and some lovely inviting play waves. It’s a lovely Alpine-esque river and defo one I’ll return to paddle in the future…
